Manglik Dosha, also known as Mangal Dosha or Kuja Dosha, is a belief in Vedic astrology that relates to the position of the planet Mars (Mangal) in a person’s birth chart (kundali). According to this belief, if Mars is placed in certain specific houses in the birth chart—usually the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house—it can create an astrological imbalance known as Manglik Dosha.

Manglik Dosha is believed to be associated with various negative effects on marriage and relationships, including delays or obstacles in finding a suitable life partner, marital discord, conflicts, and even the possibility of separation or divorce. It is considered especially significant in Hindu astrology and is often taken into account when assessing compatibility between potential partners for marriage.

The severity of Manglik Dosha is determined by factors such as the position of Mars in the birth chart, its aspect on other planets, and the overall strength of the chart. In some cases, the presence of Manglik Dosha may be mitigated or nullified by certain astrological remedies or rituals prescribed by Vedic astrologers.

Manglik Dosha is believed to be more pronounced if it is present in the birth chart of both partners in a marriage. In such cases, special consideration may be given to matching the charts of Manglik individuals with suitable partners who also have Mangal Dosha, in order to minimize potential conflicts and ensure marital harmony.

Despite its significance in traditional astrology, Manglik Dosha is a subject of debate among modern astrologers and scholars. While some people take it very seriously and may seek astrological remedies to mitigate its effects, others view it as a superstition or outdated belief with little scientific basis.

In recent years, the importance of Manglik Dosha has diminished to some extent as attitudes towards marriage and relationships have evolved, and people place more emphasis on factors such as mutual compatibility, shared values, and personal compatibility. However, in certain cultural contexts, particularly within Hindu communities, it continues to influence matchmaking and marriage decisions to varying degrees.
